New Patrons and Pompey People back the Bid

Leading voices from science, sport, youth culture, music, business and the arts have joined Portsmouth’s campaign to become UK City of Culture 2029, reinforcing a simple message at the heart of the bid, “everyone has a place in Portsmouth’s story”.
Two new Patrons and a local group of Pompey People will help champion the city and its cultural ambitions locally, nationally and beyond.
The new Patrons are acclaimed physicist, broadcaster and author Professor Jim Al-Khalili CBE FRS and former Portsmouth FC defender, community champion and Portsmouth legend Linvoy Primus MBE.
They are joined by a new wave of Pompey People who reflect the creativity, diversity and energy of modern Portsmouth:
- Crystal Tides, Portsmouth indie rock band
- Nadia Arab – Co-Founder The Road from Karachi CIC
- Anastasia Alexandru, Creative Producer at Playland
- Binit Ghosh, Community Volunteer
- Devora Moleman, Creative Advocate
- Jackson Davies, Portsmouth Poet Laureate
